Think my Bali belly is starting. i dont feel too goooood! So, New zealand first. Let me tell you about new zealand. for starters, i arrived in auckland safe and sound after THE LONGEST wait in customs just because i declared shells and boots, and apparently you might as well be a murderer with dead babies in your bag. RIDICULOUS. anyway, i met alan and he took me straight away up Mount Eden which was so cool, i could see the city, the harbours, the little islands...you could see for miles in every direction and there are volacano mountains everywhere! so so pretty. Then we went back to his AMAZING house in st marys bay where you can look out at the sky tower to your right and the harbour bridge in front of you, so cool! Living in luxury after all those back packer places, bliss! That evening we went out to his friends house for a casual dinner, and it was safe to say nothing like i expected- lots of men dancing around to george micheal- brilliant! We had the most amazing bbq roast chicken meal and then played some epic singstar battles which our team won ooooh yeah. I love singstar, i just want to play singstar forever. its so much fun. its definatly better than normal kareoke in every way.

SO- next day i got the bus up to Orewa to see the van Geffens which was cool, except i couldnt use the car which meant a re-think of the old plannage for new zealand transport. bad times. I ended up choosing to take the magic bus on a four day tour which stopped off at all the things i wanted to see, so it worked out really well with my previous plans. I was feeling pretty cynical (sp?) about getting a bus, not being able just to stop anywhere and look at nice views or have much flexibility, but it was actually great fun. I met some really cool people on the coaches and it wasnt full of lary english lads wanting to get drunk all the time which is alwaaaaaays a good thing. First day we headed down tooooooo... rotarua, where i saw hot springs and gezers and stuff which was cool, then next day we went to waitomo where i did black water rafting (or underground tubing) which was soso much fun and saw so many glow worms. i met some really cool people whilst doing that, so it was great not to be doing it alone. then we had a nice stroll through the redwood forests which are so magnificent, i liked it a lot. Next stop was in Taupo, for Lake Taupo, a lake bigger than Singapore. Now personally, i thought that was pretty amazing, a lake bigger than a bloody country. But i wasnt so amazed when i actually looked at a map and saw how bloody small singapore actually is. ITS BASICALLY NON EXISTANT. My bum is probably bigger than singapore.

But either way, was a really lovely lake. The thing that was a shame was that i planned to do this volvanic alpine crossing thing at Taupo, and stay there two days, but the weather was terrible whilst i was there, so it was cancelled. hot diggery!

As taupo was as far south as i could go, i then began to head back up again, via Mount Maunganui. It was described in travel books as 'holiday beach resort' - yak yak yak so i wasnt exactly looking forward to this stop- turned out to be my favourite one! It had the most glorious beaches, so long and soft and they actually sparkled, and had so many amazing shells. Then there would be tiny islands that you could access from the beach and go exploring on, and i went to sit on a rock right at the top of one and watch the sun set behing maunganui mountain. It was beautiful! Then i decided i actually wanted to climb the mountain, so did an epic trek as fast as i could to the top to watch the sun finally set on the other side, which looked amazing. It was a steep walk but actually felt really good. Then at the top i found a 2gb memory card which fits my camera, huzzah! Then i needed a wee so ran back down. oopies

I arrived back in Auckland on theeee saturday so sunday i spent the whole day with the van geffens, and we went to Wenderholm which was so pretty and you could walk out into the sea for ages and still be waist deep! We had a lot of fun there, and then came home to have roast dinner with all the fam, yum yum yum. I flew out monday morning and travelling for 22 hours for what could have been tops a nine hour flight in total. 11 hour wait in sydney. WHY do i always have long waits in airports? WHYYY

and ALAS, now i am in Bali, where apparently the last time i came here, i ate my own poo. Personally i am offended that my parents apparently have a picture of this. What parent would see their child eating poo and think 'ill take a picture' - disgustng. Im deeply ashamed. We arrived on a 'day of peace', which means your not allowed to leave the house, make noise, or have lights on in the evening- currrazy! It was actually quite nice though, i definatly needed a rest after my horrendous amount of time flying and waiting and queueing. We're staying with Jaspers friend who is a fashion designer who has just moved to bali, shes lovely! The house is amazing too, it reminds me of africa alot, the whole inside and outside mixed together thing. Love it.

Today we walked down to the beach and the waves are HUGE, they made the biggest rumbling noises and clap so loud when they break, i would definatly be swept away in them, but it was such a lovely temperature for the old feet. not too cold, not warm either. ahhh lovely

think the plan is to find all our friends tomorrow in Kuta and then begin our journey up to Ubud, Amed and many other delightful places up in the north. Cant wait! Im also trying to learn a bit of inondesian. All i can remember at the moment is Apa which is totally useless. toot toot
